About us

The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) (ODVC(A)) provides high-level project, administrative and governance support to the DVC(A), Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education and Student Experience) and all portfolio divisions.

The ODVC(A) works collaboratively across a wide range of activities, including portfolio and financial management, governance and reporting, project and change management, data analysis, and communications and engagement.

The ODVC(A) is led by Dr Michaela Deen.

Our focus areas

Governance, Policy and Reporting

The Governance, Policy and Reporting team supports the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education and Student Experience) by guiding and briefing on key policy and strategic initiatives, providing governance and administrative support to key projects, and advising senior leadership on progress towards strategic objectives.

  • Project and program management.
  • Preparation of policy briefs and supporting government reporting.
  • Administrative support for ODVC(A) and OPVC(ESE) projects and functions.
  • Liaison across portfolio areas in support of ODVC(A) activities.
  • Reporting and review of audit and risk actions and requirements.
  • Review and preparation of submissions and papers for University governance committees.

Communications, Change and Engagement 

The Communications, Change and Engagement team (DVC(A) Comms) supports communication and engagement activities for the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education and Student Experience), as well as the broader DVC(A) portfolio. The team also guides project and change initiatives across the portfolio and UQ.

Education Insights and Analysis (EIA)

The EIA team delivers metrics, data reports, visualisations and in-depth analyses that align with strategic objectives. Their work guides management decisions and the design of customised interventions across UQ.

This includes:

  • portfolio data reporting
  • intervention design and evaluation for improved student outcomes
  • quantitative and qualitative data analysis
  • development of performance metrics.
