Dr Bethany Mackay is the Director of Student Support and Wellbeing Services. She oversees student support and wellbeing through leading proactive engagement, education, safety, wellbeing, diversity and inclusion initiatives, as well as counselling and mental health response.

Dr Mackay is a clinical psychologist with extensive experience and knowledge in leading counselling, wellbeing and safety services across the higher education sector.

Prior to her appointment in 2025, Dr Mackay was the Chief Wellbeing Officer at Central Queensland University and previously held management roles at Queensland University of Technology. She has also had extensive experience working in a private practice setting.

Dr Mackay is skilled in the implementation of mental health and wellbeing strategy, policy, and practices, and is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for students, staff and the wider university community.
