UQ's teaching and learning principles focus on the creation, preservation, transfer and application of knowledge. This is just one of the many reasons why UQ attracts some of the best and brightest minds from around the world.
These key principles are developed through the University's Strategic Plan and embedded in the Learning and Student Experience Roadmap. Internal structures have been put in place to provide leadership and guidance in our teaching and learning processes. This helps to ensure we continue to uphold our principles and align with UQ's strategic goals.
Strategic direction and leadership of teaching and learning and the associated organisational units is the responsibility of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).
Structure
There are a diverse range of areas that impact on the teaching and learning experience for staff and students. This includes UQ's governance structure, which is headed by Senate and includes the senior executive.
There are also a number of committees that are relevant to the formation and management of teaching and learning policy. The Academic Board is the senior advisory body for these committees, which include:
- Teaching and Learning Committee
- Assessment Sub-committee of the Teaching and Learning Committee
- Teaching and Learning Space Committee.
These structures work together to plan, implement and advise on teaching and learning strategic priorities.
