Key responsibilities

Admissions

  • Administer applications submitted through Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) and Graduate Entry Medical Admissions Systems (GEMSAS)
  • Provide information to prospective students pertaining to domestic undergraduate, selected postgraduate and Doctor of Medicine programs
  • Assess the Enhanced Studies Program (ESP) applications and provide administrative support to the program pre-enrolment 
  • Administer alternate entry admissions and adjustment schemes
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders within the University regarding domestic admissions
  • Advise current UQ students of program change requirements and process
  • Pre-assess qualifications for admission, as requested
  • Participate in University-wide recruitment activities such as Tertiary Studies Expo (TSXPO), Open Day
  • Present at events (e.g. Guidance Counsellor’s Conference, Open Day etc.)
  • Manage deferral requests from domestic undergraduate applicants
  • Provide support and training to faculty staff.

Publications

  • Contribute to various publications and web content (e.g. Future Students, QTAC Guide, Year 10 Guide, My Path, UQ Undergraduate Guide, GEMSAS Admissions Guide) and a variety of information sheets
  • Produce QTAC and GEMSAS Assessor Guideline Manual, faculty delegations and other procedural documents.

Secretariat support

  • Provide secretarial support to the Coursework Admissions Standards Sub-Committee (CASSC). This committee advises and makes recommendations to the Committee for Academic Programs Policy (CAPP) on matters associated with the admission standards of the University, special admission schemes and programs, for all coursework applicants.
  • Contribute to the review of Admissions-related policy and procedures for domestic undergraduate, postgraduate coursework, non-award and Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) programs.
